Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Shift a Word (the “Game,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Game on iOS or visit shiftaword.kevinhuer.com. For privacy questions, contact support@kevinhuer.com.

1. Information associated with the Game

Shift a Word offers optional integration with Apple's Game Center and iCloud services. If you use these features, the Game may receive information made available by Apple, such as your Game Center display name or nickname, player identifier, and information needed to support applicable gameplay, scores, achievements or saved progress. The precise information available depends on which Apple features you use and your Apple settings.

We do not use your Game Center name to track you across other companies' apps or websites or to build an advertising profile. If you contact us by email, we receive the address and information you choose to send.

2. How we use information

3. Google AdMob advertising

Shift a Word plans to use Google AdMob to show in-game advertisements. At the effective date of this policy, approval to serve ads is pending, so advertisements may not yet appear in the Game. Once enabled, Google's advertising technology may process information from your device and interactions with advertisements, including IP address, device or advertising identifiers (where available and permitted), approximate location inferred from IP address, app and advertisement interaction data, and diagnostic information.

Google may use that information to deliver and measure advertisements, limit repeated ads, detect fraud and abuse, and, depending on applicable permissions, settings and consent, personalize advertising. We do not provide Game Center display names to Google AdMob for advertising targeting, nor do we use those names to track users across other companies' apps and websites.

Google's practices are described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and the Google Privacy Policy. AdMob-related data processing can occur even when advertisements are not personalized.

If the Game seeks permission to track your activity across other companies' apps or websites, it will use Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission request where required. You can review that permission in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security > Tracking. Where legally required, the Game will also present advertising consent or privacy choices. Rejecting tracking does not necessarily remove advertisements.

Ad approval status: Google AdMob advertising is planned and approval is pending. The data collected in a particular version of the Game will depend on whether the AdMob SDK is installed or active, its configuration, and the permissions or consent you grant.

4. Apple Game Center and iCloud

Game Center and iCloud are Apple services subject to Apple's own privacy practices. Your use of these features is optional. You can control Game Center and iCloud through your device settings. For more information, see Apple's Privacy Policy and Apple's Game Center privacy information.

5. Sharing of information

Information needed for optional Apple features may be processed through Apple services. When the AdMob integration is active, advertising-related information may be processed by Google and advertising partners as described above. We may also disclose information when required by applicable law, or when reasonably necessary to protect users, the Game, or our legal rights. We do not sell Game Center names or use them for advertising targeting.

6. Retention and deletion

Game Center and iCloud information is managed through Apple's services and your account settings. You can stop using optional Apple features or manage applicable stored information through your Apple device and account settings. Support correspondence is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain records, or meet legal obligations. Google and its advertising partners may have separate retention practices, described in their privacy policies. To ask about information we directly hold or request its deletion, email support@kevinhuer.com. We may need limited information to verify and process a request.

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information within our control. No method of electronic storage or transmission is guaranteed to be completely secure. Apple's services and any advertising services maintain their own security measures and policies.

8. Children

Shift a Word is a general-audience word puzzle game. We do not intentionally request that children submit personal information directly to us. Apple account and Game Center features, advertising, and any applicable age-related protections are subject to the settings and requirements of the relevant services. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through a support request, please contact us so that we can review it.

9. International processing

Apple services and, when AdMob is active, Google and advertising partners may process information in countries outside your place of residence, subject to their policies and applicable safeguards. If you email us, your message may also be handled by service providers supporting our email communications.

10. Your choices and rights

You can choose whether to use optional Game Center and iCloud functions, adjust applicable permissions in iOS Settings, and contact us to ask about access to, correction of, or deletion of information under our control. Privacy rights differ by jurisdiction and may be subject to legal exceptions. Requests involving information independently controlled by Apple or an advertising provider may need to be directed to that provider.

11. Website privacy

This website is a simple informational website and does not include a sign-up form or an embedded advertising network. As with most websites, the hosting provider may process technical requests and server logs, such as IP address, requested pages, browser information, and access times, for delivery, security, and troubleshooting. Email links open your email application and do not submit information to the website itself.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Game, advertising services, or legal obligations. The effective date above will be updated when we make changes. Material changes will be communicated where required by law.
